Dear Blogger
Thank you for your recent invitation. If you are going to invite me to become one of your blog friends then at least indicate why we should be friends. Simply clicking the invite box isn't quite enough. This is especially important if:
a) you haven't recently posted anything on your own blog
b) we don't appear to have anything in common
c) we haven't had an exchange of comments
On this occasion I have declined your invitation. If sometime in the future any of the above criteria is fulfilled then perhaps we could become friends?
Until then - happy blogging
Marian (aka La_spice)

Well said! I regularly get such invites which I decline. xx
-
- 14/11/2009 @ 10:22:07
At least I can now refer them to this post

Have a good weekend

I've 25 of those sitting in my ignored invites...this is a good idea to post it publicly...I have accepted one or two this way after checking out their blogs but do find we've nothing in common...

I hate to ignore invites so in future I can simply refer requests to this post

Have a lovely day

Be my guest

-
- 14/11/2009 @ 11:52:23
ps - I'm now going to make this a "sticky post" so that it stays at the top
-
- http://www.jenniferhunter.co.uk
- 14/11/2009 @ 12:04:22
I still don't know how you do this?
GBHs...XXX-
- 14/11/2009 @ 12:10:05
It's easy - when you write or edit a post, look underneath the text box and you'll see "properties" click on that and you'll find "make this post sticky" tick the box and don't forget to "save"!
There you are
ps I might do a similar post on my other blogs too.-

darn right its so annoying when people do this I often turn people down if they dont leave a message in the invitation.
hope you have a great dayh-

I usually go and take a peek at their blog. The latest one hadn't blogged for ages, only had four postings and I don't ever recall seeing him commenting around the place.
Have a good day - I'm hoping to get out into the garden this afternoon and do some tidying up.

Excellent post M! There is a similar 'unease' about friends who never comment on one's post...except respond to comments on their own posts....
-
- 14/11/2009 @ 12:01:25
Yes - and that can be tricky if they're already on your friends' list

It's a bit of a minefield until you get to know each other a little better. We can't always comment on every post much as we'd like to. With all the best will in the world misunderstandings occur
Take care

Well said and so wise! I get invites like that as well. Pfft!
-
- 14/11/2009 @ 13:34:54
Occasionally it's just a novice blogger then I forgive them

-
- 14/11/2009 @ 16:52:25
A wise move. Some are just friend addicts!!!!!!!!

-
- 14/11/2009 @ 17:14:30
I can't see the point of having so many friends and not making a friendship with them

Although I've now gone over 70 I think I have built up a relationship with everyone of them.-
- 14/11/2009 @ 18:10:03
It does seem daft. Why would you want three figues worth of friends. Youy would need all day to keep up with them

-
- 14/11/2009 @ 18:15:44
Even double figure are hard to manage some time

Especially around a full moon!!!!!
-
- 14/11/2009 @ 23:14:58
That's a good idea. I've refused quite a lot of requests for one or more of those reasons

-
- 15/11/2009 @ 08:38:03
I think we all have. It amazes me that someone I know blindly accepts all invites!
-
- 15/11/2009 @ 15:09:28
That seems rather pointless! No point in reading blogs you don't find interesting or amusing, and if you don't read your "friends" blogs then you don't get to know anything about them, so they're not really friends are they!! Well, that's what I think anyway

-
- 20/11/2009 @ 13:06:10
Oh dear. I wonder if I've done that... I must admit I think I've only asked people who's blogs I've commented on... and if I did send anyone a blank one I didn't mean to. I think sometimes I'm not sure of what to say. Having said that I did write stuff on my request to you and I wrote the wrong stuff on my request to Brokendown Angel but thankfully I think she realised I was having a loony moment!
)
There, I feel as though I've been to confession and I feel much better now!

It's more the people who seem to collect friends rather than befriend each other. We also get the odd loony and spammers around. You're a genuine friend

well said! I've had a few invites with no comments and from what I can tell, they don't comment on my blog so I've ignored them. It doesn't take much just to write a little 'hi, like your blog, would like to be friends'
